The blessing of cheers.......here, m'dears.
OK, our version of Christmas drama is today's 15 foot waves hitting the coast of California. I admit, I miss the white Christmas theme in the weather. My goodness, the palm trees are justa swaying to the slight wind and I'm planting flowers today. Bragging, bragging all you poor dug down in the tundra peeeps. I thoroughly apologize for it all, but when the whisper"Go West, young woman" came in my ear, I listened.
So, I'm privy to the artsy fartsy pink Christmas trees and all the other Hollywood funnies that happen this time of year.
I miss my Momma badly at Christmas. Love you Bibbie. She'd be so happy to be around, giggling and making us all "Have Christmas" as she used to say. We'd try to beat each other to be first everyday saying"Christmas Gift". A silly old custom but still makes me giggle.
I miss a lot of people these days. But I'm happy and hopeful. Surprise, Susaye is happy! Yes, I know it's boring, I'm the proverbial optimist and the happiest person I know and I like it that way.
I'm grateful for so much. Books, music, pups, laughter, loads of art and the people first and foremost! My darling husband who gives me everything my heart desires, starting with the love and a wonderful big old boy of a son who loves me and bought his mama loose diamonds. They're only really weenie ones, but what a guy! Did I bring that boy up right and will he make some woman a wonderful husband? I'll say one thing about him, when you ask him "what do women really want, son", he knows the answer is "Shoes". Then we laugh.
We do a lot of laughing and crying too at Chez Susaye. We're a sentimental soppy bunch of emos, we are, and proud of it. We'll all cry at a great commercial, not to mention we can't wait to sit and watch "It's a Wonderful Life" for the millionth time. And dammit! It IS a wonderful life. It's the gift that keeps on giving, life. If you don't think so and don't take advantage of it, you're just missing out!
So, all of that said, my pals, give love out this season and that's what you'll get back. I dearly love all of you out there. You keep your heads up and dig deep this coming year and live up to and beyond your own expectations. Focus on getting great at what you love. That's what makes striving for the best in each of us worthwhile.
